RAIPUR: With only three of the 350 seats for Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) courses being filled for the ensuing academic this year, an unprecedented 99.14% vacancy exist in Dental Colleges in Chhattisgarh.
As the counselling for the BDS courses ended on 22nd September, there were virtually no takers for the 347 available seats, including 97 in the Government Dental College. Besides the 100 available seats in the Government Dental College, the state has quota of 250 seats, 50 seats each, in the five private run dental colleges in the state.
According to officials, there are 500 seats in five private dental colleges, 100 each in Chhattisgarh Dental College and Research Institute, Rajnandgaon, Maitri College of Dentistry and Research Centre and Rungta College of dental Sciences and Research in Durg, New Horizon Dental College and Research Institute, Bilaspur and Triveni Institute of Dental Sciences Hospital and Research Centre in Bilaspur.
